Description
I painted this to honor an 1888 painting by Alfred T. Bricher. I used artistic freedom on most of the painting. I wanted it to be brighter and less busy as Mr. Bricher's but still catch the feeling that his masterpiece portrays. The main differences are; updated the boat to a little more modern design, changed the sailors, changed the light thru the sail, changed the foreground and removed the dingy from behind the yacht and also the dingy caught up into the weeds in the foreground. I also eliminated the other crafts and buildings from the original as well as brighten the water reflections and coloring.
