I've run across this photo over the years and always wanted to try a drawing of it, but I would never improve on this!! Would love to know how you found the photographers name because I have a collection of these types of photos! You captured every nuance that made this such a compelling subject!! I voted for this entry in the Nursery Room Art contest and most definitely favorited!

I love the style of your painting, Alan; wish I could paint as well as you do! My favorite is 'The Summer Wind,' but this one caught my eye because I've done it, too, from the photograph and I also reversed it. Was glad to find the photographer!

Amazing painting, Alan, Beautiful touches here and there to move the eye through the canvas... but always, the beguiling young boy draws you back to that arched foot as he pours out his passion. I love the addition of the cat, spellbound. : ) f/l/v

Artist's Description

I did this from a photo that was in the collection of the most powerful photos of the 20th Century. There was no mention of the photographer so I have no idea who to thank for the photo. Update; thank to Barbara Moak I found out the original photographer was Valimir Zotov. His original photo is reversed from the one I did this painting from. Thank you Mr Zotov for you beautiful and powerful photo of the connection of young boy playing his flute to his kitten.
