Congratulations on your well deserved win in The Breast Cancer Awareness contest Alan-Outstanding oils with great meaning-I believe we all have lost loving family and great friends, and hopefully we all can lend some help to each other from losing more. The message of awareness from most families was given at too great a cost. Thank you for sharing your outstanding work and to Barbara for being the role model that she obviously was!!

Alan Lakin replied:

Thank you Mike

This is a beautiful portrait. I especially like the affect of the bright light shining from above. Reading your description, I suspect that has a stong meaning for you as well. This is a lovely tribute for her.

Alan Lakin replied:

Thank you Martha, the day I met Barbara she had that glow all around her. This was just a few days before she passed. I had never seen anyone glow like that before.

Artist's Description

From the private collection of Mr Fox McC. of his beloved wife Barbara who succumbed to a long battle with breast cancer before I could get the painting finished. She was a beautiful spirit that graced this earth for far too short a period, making everyone around her feel better about themselves and the people around them. A leader in the community and a great friend to all who knew her. A loving mother and wife, you made the world a bit brighter Barbara, and we all thank you for that.
